Three Little Darlings!

Three Little Darlings!

I got to spend time with these three grandchildren over the Thanksgiving Holiday! The truth is … grandkids make life wonderful!!! I didn’t get a picture of the other three, I will get right on that and post them next. I am so thankful for each one of these special critters that God has given hubby and me. Hubby called them all turkeys and tried to take a nibble out of them, which made them scream and run away! I, Mimi, just love to kiss and squeeze any chance I get!!!

The View From My Front Porch!

The View From My Front Porch!

The other morning I went out to feed June, our kitty, and this was the scene that greeted me! I found myself breathless, then singing praises to my Heavenly Father who blesses us so richly. Last week I came across this quote: “Gratitude turns what we have into enough” and it is my new saying. (I don’t have the author’s name.) So when I find myself wishing for something I don’t have, that I don’t really need, I say that to myself and it helps set me straight! Lifting my eyes up, unto the mountains, where my help comes from, is a simple task from my Front Porch!

BFFs and the Big F Words

BFFs and the Big F Words

Such a timely rabbit trail I have gone on today! Being new to the blogging world, and working full time, my main reason for blogging was just to see if I could use it for a creative outlet. Anyway… I opened my email today and there was one from Word Press about blogging so I dived in and read about bloggers being interconnected and the whole blogging world as a huge breathing and moving animal out in the cyber world. I then followed the article into the blog:  mwfseekingbff.wordpress.com because the article was about how this person started her blog with the goal of writing a book… I laughed when I was reading her latest blog on fighting with your friends because at 56 years old a woman really does not fight with her girlfriends much. Mostly because, I think, you know by this age who is a kindred spirit and who is not and you know how to invest in those that are and stay away from those that aren’t. So I laughed, like I said, when I read the blog because I found myself in a strange place the other day. I had a fight with one of my BFFs. We had a blow up and then due to time constraints we made up quickly, then went our ways. What my mind keeps going back to is that we both quickly came to see our own part in the blowup and truly asked forgiveness of each other and freely gave it. I know our friendship will not be hurt by our spat and might even be strengthen by it, one reason being that it has caused me to re-evaluate this friendship and realize I don’t want to lose her as a close friend. Maybe that is the reason for some of the conflicts in our life – reFlection. My hope is that I, and you cute and sweet and nice people reading this, will take time out in life to reFlect on the important things in life… Family, Friends, Faith, Forgiveness, Food, Fashion, French Fries, Fandango (movie website)… okay now I am just being Funny!
(I hope you weren’t oFFended by the title to this blog – it was just a tool to drag you in!!)
Oh Fiddle-Faddle!

(The picture is from my daughter’s wedding and it was taken as one of her BFFs looked deeply into her eyes right before she walked down the isle and it speaks 1,000 words.)

Some of the Darndest Things!

Some of the Darndest Things!

So, this is a pretty random post. I was looking through my pictures and came across one that CRACKED me up!!! It is a picture of my sink with some dirty dishes, a plate and some silverware, a really cool old bottle that we found in my good friend Tina’s old outhouse. (We were told that you can sometimes find some great stuff if you dig down in a place where you would not normally dig down in an outhouse.) Anyway, during our girlie campout trip last summer we were, as I said, digging through an old outhouse and we found some wonderful old pop bottles. We divvied up the stash and I brought this bottle home. I was cleaning out the junk in it. I put some hot water into the bottle and let it sit for a while. I then took the bottle, swished it around, and dumped out the water. Well, low and behold, this little dehydrated critter appeared! At first it didn’t register on my brain. Something made me stop and just take a long gander. (I think my brain knew it was something recognizable.) You can imagine my level of grossed-out-ness was way up there but soon I saw the humor in it and thought I would take a picture. I am so glad to have this platform to share such a wonderful picture! I hope you enjoyed it!  I promise, I am not often gross like this – although I do enjoy cleaning out clogged drains! – TMI! Sorry…
If nothing else, I hope you can enjoy the antique pop bottle!!!

Weekend Fun!

Weekend Fun!

So if anyone’s asking – this is what I did this weekend. We had two foam pads for our camper that needed to be covered with material. I have got to tell ya… I am kind of proud of myself. I am one of those seamstresses who sews two seams and rips out one (and that is pretty much what happened this time too) but I persevered and after hours of designing, choosing material I had saved up, cutting, sewing, ripping out, sewing again, stuffing cushions into what I came up with and finally hand stitching long seams closed I was victorious! I picked those puppies up and marched them through three feet of snow and installed them!!!! So, come, sit a spell! You will be welcomed anytime!

Long Winter

Long Winter

It’s that time of year where winter is still beautiful! The sky is so blue, the clouds can be lofty and full of sun rays one minute dark and menacing the next. In mid February, I always tell myself to be content with the snow, it’s going to be here, in our little mountain town, for a long time still. It is easy to do when I am blessed with a scene like this.
