We celebrated Hummer’s 40th College Reunion at St. John’s in Winfleld, Kansas in June! We flew into Omaha, Nebraska, spent the night at his old roommate Roger and his wife Cheryl’s lovely home, getting a tour of Rog’s church, home and yard – including a vineyard. Spent a lovely evening, steak dinner included! (In other words started out the weekend with a bang!) In the morning, after a pancake breakfast we piled in to the Theimer’s car and drove to Winfield.
We were so blessed to get to stay in a wonderful old mansion now a B & B!

Iron Gate Bed and Breakfast! The best old mansion EVER! Built by the man who founded St. John’s College! We had the whole run of the place!
It was wonderful to meet up with all the old Johnnies of Hub’s class – all 8 of them! (There was probably close to 100 all together!) We toured all the old buildings, classrooms, dorms, campus center! We sat on the wall in front of Rewinkle were Hubbers and I spent many hours holding hands and smooching!

St. John’s Chapel. Spent many hours in this wonderful place. (I really did go to chapel quite often, course I was in Chapel Choir my Freshman year.)
We drove by so many of the old places, Island Park, Tunnel Mill Dam (where we spent a wonderful couple hours talking about life), we tried to go to Joe’s Bar but it was closed. We drove past Rob’s old home and it was wonderful to see that it has been well taken care of.
On Sunday we went to church at Trinity Lutheran, where we were married, and sang hymns, celebrated communion and listened to Roger deliver an exceptional sermon! (What a guy!)
After church we drove to Lawrence, Kansas, Hubshub’s sister’s lovely home. They moved into their “new” home 13 years ago and this was our first time to get to see it. Rog and Cheryl stayed for a delicious lunch , which Julie had prepared for us, along with some other college friends that live in Lawrence, after which they returned home. Thank you to two very special people in our lives – Roger and Cheryl – until NEXT time!!!
We then spent a full week with Jujee’s family and had a blast. Got to meet Nathan’s wife Betsy and their darling boy Josiah! It went too quickly and before we knew it we were saying goodbye! Thank you, Hammer Family, for the fantastic food, the super fun “pitch” card games we played every day, and for the marathon garage sale and thrift store shopping that we were able to squeeze in!! Love you SO MUCH!
