Changes ahead, I see several baby cottonwood trees starting to grow. Some day this part of the river will look very different!

This was one of those mornings when I woke Up early – at 5:00 am – on a day when I could have slept in – at least until 7:00 am – and could not go back to sleep.  Heart and head racing right out of the chute!  Bombarded on all sides by personal struggles and worry about others.  (A close sister in the hospital, another with a father who recently went through a roll-over auto accident, loved ones with marriage struggles, grandchildren with some minor health issues – need I go on?)  As my mind was going over all these things to pray about I asked Father for some words of comfort and He brought to my mind. “I’ve got peace like a river”.  I began to think about that.  We live right next to a river.  That river has a way of being like the sea in that it ebbs and flows!  At times it is low and at other times very high.  It has to do with the seasons.  Right now it is high!  Spring run-off from the snowy mountains has filled the reservoir and the “flood gates” (or in this case the dam) have been opened!  As I walk along the river right now the water level is so high that the saturation level has leaked onto the path and in places it is damp.  Now, if I take the river and compare it to “peace like a river” I begin to see that there are times of great peace – to the point of truly saturating my path, and times of peace being so low that a dry river bed makes it possible to walk clear out into the center of where the river usually flows searching for it, knowing that it is there somewhere.

Thinking further along those lines… it seems that the important thing to remember is that the peace is still there even when I don’t see it – that the reservoir is always available… I just need to open the floodgates of peace that is ALWAYS available from my Father’s lake…

In closing, Jesus – Fount of every blessing – come and fill my life with a wide river of peace!!!

Here are some sure signs that new life is beginning to appear!  (It takes awhile here in the mountains of central Idaho!)

Here is a picture of some friends come to call and a picture of what two doggy friends do to my couch on a regular basis.  Aahh the joys of spring dirt!

Life has been busy, good!  Got to visit family last weekend!  Always a good thing!  Filling up with excitement for the coming summer!  Lots of plans, places to go, people to see.  Hubton I and think about family and friends with love and joy!  (This is rather gushy – but true!)
